Good

During a recent conversation I was asked how I am doing given the topsy turvey employer health world the last several years and specifically the ricochet effects in 2023. My standard answer is always the same – “I’m Good”. This phrase is usually quickly passed over and we move onto whatever the original purpose of the conversation was.

More recently, I have been mentally pausing on the much deeper meaning to me of this phrase. In my 13 years of being in the Employer Health industry I have never seen the level of concern, the extreme challenges, and the uncertainties for the future. This year alone, nearly every single one of our employers is in the news dealing with large layoffs, managing through bank failures, and watching all the best outlined strategies, the detailed business plans, and the years of efforts being re-examined under the new context in which we all operate. Many companies are not doing “good”, their employees that we interact with are clearly under newfound general pressure, and the daily pressures from efforts to reduce, to improve efficiency, and to improve underlying margins is very, very real.

As these businesses adjust, our business at Crossover must adjust as well. We have to be both empathetic and eager to adjust to new realities, we have to be even more value added and value conscious, but I am so pleased to know–now more than ever–Primary Health is the solution that is absolutely needed in the market. While our mission is not only just and right, it is also good. However, the nobility of our cause does not take away from the existential fact that we must be better than good for this moment. And, we are and will continue to be in the infinite game of pursuing greatness.

So when you hear me say, “I’m good”, I will be watching if you really hear what I am saying.

And, I am here for it. All of it.
